One of the largest providers of mutual fund clearing and settlement services in the USA, our client provides institutional customers — Banks, Trust Companies, Third Party Administrators, Registered Investment Advisors, and Broker/Dealers with automated and cost-effective transaction processing and client reporting services.
They gave G4h a 2-part brief: to investigate the European potential for its services and to explore the best way to enter the market. At the end of the process G4h would be required to provide clear, recommendations with a go-to-market strategy, plus indicative costs for implementing that strategy should the recommendation be positive.
G4h undertook an extensive 4-month study of the market, including desk-based research and interviews with potential customers, technology partners, JV partners and competitors. A business plan was created and a potential acquisition was identified.
Ultimately, our research and analysis concluded that the lack of an equivalent pan-European infrastructure would increase the overall risks of the venture and we recommended that it would be more prudent to delay entry until such infrastructures emerge. G4h retains a watching brief on their behalf.
